John Thompson and JHT Antonello look on track to successfully defend their Dressage Horse of the Year crown.

The Gordonton combination yesterday won the Dunstan Nutrition CDI FEI Grand Prix with a score of 69.52%, with Abbie Deken (Taranaki) and KH Ambrose second on 67.42% and Penny Castle (Ashhurst) aboard Magnus Spero third on 65.9%.

All seven combinations reached the 60% threshold to qualify them for the Dressage of the Year title classes.

“He was right on form,” said Thompson, who is currently in 99th place on the FEI rankings. Tomorrow the seven combinations will compete in the Dunstan Nutrition CDEI FEI Grand Prix Special, followed by the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle to Music on Sunday.
