BIG RED CUP

NZ YOUNG RIDER OF THE YEAR

Previously presented to the Junior Rider of the Year

The Big Red Cup was donated by AD ‘Joe” Yorke in honour of his successful showjumper who won numerous trophies including the Olympic Cup (1974), the Norwood Gold Cup (1973), Pilmer Plate for the puissance (1974), and the Rutherford Cup, among many others. The horse showed he had a heart of a lion when unknowingly competing at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal with a damaged splint bone. The injury was discovered after the event.
