It’s fair to say Josh Bremner was pretty happy with his decisive win aboard LT Holst Francis in the Matthews Hanoverians Amateur Rider of the Year.
“It’s bloody awesome,” said the Northland rider. “My partner said to just go for it, so that’s what we did.”
There were five clear rounds from the 18 original starters producing another exciting jump-off.
Charlotte Amos and Lazarus FPH were first out, coming home clear in 36.44 seconds. Next came series leader Jillian Watson aboard OhMyHolly who looked to take all the shortcuts in their 35.62 second round. But then came Josh who was clearly on a mission to win, with his super tight turns and waste nothing focus, crossing the flags all clear in 33.11.
As the winner, Josh received the Blake Keane Amateur Rider of the Year Trophy from its donor. The long-time gate steward was chuffed to present the trophy.
“The amateur riders are the bread and butter riders,” he said.
And he’s always there to give them a little confidence boost as they head into a class.
